Read Between the Lines

Brief

To design a lamp using and experimenting with laser cutting techniques.

Outcome

The RBTL lamp is a conceptual lamp that is made from 3mm clear acrylic and polypropylene. The final product explores experimentation with etching and light dispersion as well as typography.

An iteration of this project was accepted into Fringe Furniture 2019.

Inner Shade ("Between")

To ensure that both shades were legible, we placed them on bearings so they could spin 360 degrees.

Outer Shade ("Lines")

We experimented with curves and finishes on the pieces to give a more dynamic sense to the design.

The final design was etched on both sides of the acrylic.
